I am a graduate of the College of Cranio-sacral Therapy in London. In 2005 I gained my Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology, going on to qualify as a Cranio-Sacral Therapist in 2008.
Benefitting from cranio-sacral treatments following two major surgeries, I was determined to become a practitioner and completed my training whilst teaching full time.
In 2001 I qualified in Reiki Levels 1 and 2, and find this can be a powerful compliment to a cranio-sacral treatment.
As part of my CST qualification I completed a dissertation on Adoption, Separation Trauma and Craniosacral Therapy, for which I researched published neuroscience on the subject, as well as drawing on my own and others’ experiences, including treating patients for whom this had been part of their life experience. Some clients had experienced separation for reasons other than adoption and with equally profound effects. Adoption used to be a subject which was never discussed; I hope that for anyone involved in the adoption triangle that my blog provides a bit of space through which to do that.
As an adoptee, I found this gentle therapy was a great way to address many of the issues around separation and adoption, working as it can with non-verbal experiences. I subsequently wrote four articles on adoption and separation which were published in The Fulcrum (the Journal of the Craniosacral Therapy Association). I have rewritten some of these in a less clinical, more accessible format for my Blog page.
My practice is supervised. This means I consult with an experienced craniosacral therapist & qualified Supervisor about the treatments I give. They will never be present in the treatment room, and is confidential, so no patient’s personal details are shared. It allows the therapist to reflect on their work and receive valuable insights on approaches to treatment. This is a common part of any cranio-sacral therapist’s practice.
